Andy was such a generous and kind-hearted man - quick to smile and laugh and always showed a tremendous belief in the abilities of junior colleagues. Despite my being his junior, he never made me feel that way, always treating me as an equal and inviting me to take on responsibilities typically associated with more senior scientists. If the measure of a person is how they treat those more junior to them then Andy was a giant amongst us. I’m going to miss you Andy, what I wouldn’t give for one last chance to tell you how much what you did for me has meant to me.
