Andy worked with me in Manchester from 2004-2008, which was a great success both professionally and personally (my postdoc Kirsty Green introduced him to his wife Jane). In Manchester, Andy and I published 8 papers in 4 years, which led to a long and fruitful collaboration, during which time we published 12 more papers together with my students and postdocs. Andy was intelligent, thoughtful, friendly, funny, always ready to help. He was a great scientist, and a lovely bloke, who I am very grateful to have known. We should celebrate his life and his great contributions. Rob
