I too was lucky enough to know Andy from the ECRC and Breakthrough Breast Cancer group. He was always approachable and kind when he answered my bioinformatics questions; he even showed me how to do my first graph in SPSS many years ago :) A true leader and mentor. I was absolutely blown away by his bravery and composure during his talk for the IGC seminar in February and sent him a message to say so. He wrote back straight away and then offered me advice on my quest to do a phd. Upbeat and giving - thank you Andy. My heart aches for his family, in particular his kids. I hope they read these some day and can learn even more than they already do, how wonderful their dad was.
