Andy was a wonderful colleague and friend. We worked together for many years at the ECRC in a great collaboration, jointly supervising PhD students and publishing papers along the way. It is a privilege to have worked with him – he brought so much to the different projects – always insightful and full of enthusiasm and we will all miss him greatly. But it wasn't all work and I also really enjoyed the times we spent comparing notes on trips to the hills both for running and skiing. My thoughts are with his family. Val B
