I have interacted with Andy over the last 10 years. He has always been the go-to person every time my studies required the input of a bioinformatician and he always excelled on his contributions, doing suggestions and coming up with new ideas. But he wasn’t only an inspirational scientist he was also a great colleague that I always liked to meet at conferences. Last ones were last year in Birmingham and Edinburgh. I remember well the dinner in Edinburgh because he was sitting in front of me and he was so happy telling me about his first family skiing holidays. My thoughts are with his family, particularly wife and children, and would like them to know that we'll always remember him as the great scientist and person he has always been. His legacy will endure through all of us that have known him but also through his work and important scientific achievements. Bruno Simoes @Manchester
