Andy was my supervisor for my postdoc. He was a so supportive and generous with his time in allowing me to develop my own independent research directions. When I started, there were only the two of us in the group and we both shared a love of climbing. During the winter of that first year we decided to have a lab day out ice climbing in the highlands. It was a truly exhausting day getting up at the crack of dawn and accidentally walking into the wrong corrie but great to have shared that experience.
