Andy was as unique an individual as he was a scientist. It was clear from my very first meeting with him that he was a star in the making. Andy gave tirelessly of his time and expertise not only to his colleagues and junior scientists setting out on their own careers, but to charities such as Breast Cancer Now. He asked and expected nothing in return. Andy was a rare scientist who had clinical insight into his own and other’s work. All who worked with him will miss him greatly, but we are thankful we had him in our lives.
